Former Barcelona forward Luis Suarez is set to join Lionel Messi in the United States after officially signing a contract with MLS team Inter Miami.
The 36-year-old, who recently departed Brazilian side Gremio, has chosen to rekindle his potent partnership with his close friend Messi following their successful five-year spell at Camp Nou.
Suarez, reconnecting with his Barcelona companions, saw Inter Miami confirm the agreement through a post on X, previously known as Twitter, captioned: "Welcome Luis Suarez to the Miami dream."
Accompanying the announcement was an image featuring four young players from their academy donning the jerseys of Suarez, Messi, Jordi Alba, and Sergio Busquets.
This reunion marks their first gathering since their time at the Catalan giants in La Liga, highlighting the increasing allure of MLS among top-tier footballers.
The striker, who excelled at Liverpool before his tenure at Barcelona and later Atletico Madrid, expressed his enthusiasm for embarking on a new chapter in North America.
"I'm very happy and excited to take on this new challenge with Inter Miami," Suarez said to the club's official website. "I can't wait to get started, and I'm ready to work to make the dream of winning more titles with this great club a reality.
"I'm optimistic about what we can achieve together with our shared ambition. I will give my all to bring joy to these great fans I've heard so much about while I wear Inter Miami colors, and look forward to reuniting with great friends and players. I'm also eager to meet my new team-mates and coaches."
Inter Miami co-owner David Beckham said he was "delighted" to convince Suarez to join their project, while managing director Jorge Mas described the iconic Uruguay international as a "world-class" addition to their roster.
Suarez arrives in Miami on a free transfer and in superb form, despite approaching the final years of his career. He was crowned as the top player and goalscorer in the Brasileirao thanks to his tally of 26 goals and 17 assists in 53 appearances, helping Gremio win the Campeonato Gaúcho and Recopa Gaúcha.
